SUV fans in India have a lot to look forward to. As we move toward the end of FY26, several new SUVs are set to launch. Some are petrol and diesel powered, while others will be fully electric. Big carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata and Honda are planning major releases in the next few months. Most of these launches are expected around the festive season.
Let’s take a look at the top SUVs heading our way.
Maruti e-Vitara to Launch in September 2025
Maruti’s first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, will finally go on sale in India later this year. The company showed the production model at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. The e-Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options – a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh unit. The bigger one will offer up to 500 km range on a single charge.
The SUV is built on the new HEARTECT-e platform and will come with premium features. These include a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, reclining and sliding rear seats, a Harman sound system, and Level 2 ADAS. A digital instrument cluster and connected car features will also be offered.
Maruti Suzuki is also preparing the charging infrastructure. Over 1500 dealerships in 1000 cities are being equipped with DC fast chargers.
Next-Gen Hyundai Venue Arriving in October 2025
Hyundai is preparing a major update for its compact SUV, the Venue. The new-generation Venue will be launched during the festive season of Diwali 2025. Spy shots have already revealed some interesting details.
The SUV will feature a new front end with connected LED DRLs and quad-LED headlamps. It will also get front parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, and a new infotainment system with a bigger touchscreen. All four disc brakes may also be included for improved safety.
The engine options will remain the same. These include the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be available.
Tata Sierra to Return in ICE and EV Versions
Tata is bringing back a legend. The Sierra will return to the Indian market by the end of 2025. It will be available in both petrol/diesel and electric versions. Tata revealed the SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year.
Inside, the Sierra will feature a triple-screen layout. One screen for the driver, one in the centre, and one for the front passenger. This setup will be a first for any Tata car.
The ICE version is expected to come with 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The EV model may share the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options from the Harrier EV. Both versions will offer a strong mix of design and technology.
Honda’s First EV to Launch by March 2026
Honda is entering the electric SUV space in India with a brand-new model. Earlier reports suggested it would be based on the Elevate, but that’s no longer the case. This new EV will be a fresh mid-size SUV with a new design and layout.
It will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti e-Vitara and Mahindra BE 6. The SUV is expected to offer over 500 km of driving range on a single charge. Key features will include a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and ventilated seats.
Honda will also build a network of DC fast chargers at their dealerships across India to support EV buyers.
